On April 10, 2024, the Convention for Biomedical Research Ghana (COBREG) hosted its very first virtual panel discussion, bringing together brilliant minds in biomedical science to explore one essential question: How can students and early-career professionals successfully navigate a career in biomedical research?
The free event, which drew participants from across Ghana and the global scientific community, featured three distinguished panelists:
- Prof. Peter Twumasi (KNUST, Ghana)
- Dr. Brian Essel (MCPHS, USA)
- Dr. Lydia Quansah (UDS, Ghana)
Each panelist shared their personal journey, key turning points, and practical advice for aspiring scientists. The discussion highlighted critical skills for success, the value of global collaboration, and the importance of building resilient scientific careers rooted in purpose and community impact.
The panel also emphasized the role of mentorship, networking, and staying curious in a rapidly evolving field.
