The Convention for Biomedical Research Ghana (CoBReG) is a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) active in Ghana; in close partnership with the Ghana Biomedical Research Network (GBRN), its fund raising affiliate in North America. We are a group of biomedical scientists, clinicians, bio-engineers, laboratory technicians, public health specialists, and others committed to advancing bio-medicine and promoting health in Ghana, the West Africa sub-region, and the continent at large.

A Warm Welcome to CoBReG

It is my distinct honor to welcome you to the Convention for Biomedical Research Ghana (CoBReG).

As the 14th President of CoBReG, I invite you to become an active part of a dynamic community of researchers, clinicians, students, and innovators dedicated to advancing biomedical science in Ghana and beyond. Our strength lies in collaboration, and we are committed to creating platforms that support knowledge exchange, professional growth, and impactful research.

I warmly encourage you to become a member of CoBReG and take full advantage of the opportunities we offer. Participate in our webinars and workshops, engage with peers and mentors, and contribute to the growing body of scientific knowledge that informs policy and practice.

We also invite you to share your research with the broader scientific community by submitting abstracts for presentation at our Annual Scientific Conference. This year’s conference will be held at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in September, and promises to be an exciting gathering of minds, ideas, and innovation.

Together, we can strengthen biomedical research, inspire the next generation, and contribute meaningfully to health and development across our region.

CoBReG is dedicated to scientific capacity-building in Ghana, West Africa, and the continent at large. While our primary focus is on the biomedical sciences, in today’s world the physical and social sciences, engineering, and mathematics are all making significant contributions to global health. We are committed to their strengthening, as well

National and International Advocacy

CoBReG is actively seeking support for growing the research backbone that sustains the local scientific community. We are advocating worldwide for the creation of sustainable funding mechanisms for Ghana. The national government, as well as international bodies, need to be aware that harnessing scientific developments will benefit all Africans not only in terms of better services and products but also with job creation at all skill levels.

Our targets include:
Establishing and promoting reliable, targeted, and flexible funding mechanisms
Partnering with other organizations sharing the CoBReG vision for capacity building
